We’ve all had that occasional weekend spree, ya know the kind. It’s raining/snowing outside, you’ve just managed to get a copy of that new game, and there’s nothing at all on TV. In a situation like that it’s more than acceptable to rack up 24hrs in a weekend, hell it’s respectable.
But then there’s the games, the true time vampires of the video game world, which suck the very soul from you when your away from them. This is a list of those very games, the very games which have, according to my x fire profile, leeched the most moments from my life.
5. Fallout 3

Honestly I’m surprised to see this game is only number 5. I feel I’ve lived vicariously in the shoes of the wasteland wanderer more even than I’ve lived my own life… Albeit that’s impossible, but you get the picture. With all there is to do and see in this game, it’s hard for me to put it down Once I start playing.
4. Air Rivals

Air Rivals is… well… Awesome. It certainly deserves the #4 spot on my list, especially since I’ve also spent countless hours playing it at school where xfire failed to function. Essentially this game is StarFox meets WoW. That’s honestly the best way I can describe it to you. You are the pilot of a “gear” which is an inter-atmospheric space ship and as you ascend through the levels you gain various Items, skills, and upgrades to make you more formidable. Equally enticing are the massive faction wars which span multiple maps and the incredible level of customization your afforded.
3. Counter Strike: Source
I’m actually a little shocked at this one, as I was honestly never the biggest fan of counter-strike to begin with. The mixture of my friend being the major pwnage at it and the lack of insta-respawns seriously turned me off from the game. Yet here it is coming in at #3 on my top games list. I will say that while some hated what valve did with the game in the source transition, I loved it, and not because it’s “prettier”. I just prefer the source engine to the 1.6 engine *ducks for cover*. you can’t tell me that the first time you shot out a window with your deagle that you didn’t go whoa, that’s way more realistic.
2. Garry’s Mod
Garry’s mod. This is the game… This is the game where… Where you… Well you… Wait what? Garry’s mod is not a normal game. There are no rules, there are no objectives, just you. You and an infinite amount of objects, vehicles, guns, and bad guys. All you do is click and BOOM there’s an ant-lion guard from half-life 2 staring you down. What’re you gonna do about it? Well how about use one of the thousands of player created weapons to dispose of the dirt-bag. One of my personal favorites: The Nuclear Watermelon. This game has single handedly eaten 288 RECORDED hours of my life. Counting computer’s I didn’t have xfire installed on easilly makes it 300hrs or 1.78571429 weeks. Yet Insane as that might sound it doesn’t even hold a candle to my number one game.
The Number one Game, The game that has Single-Handedly swallowed more of my life than any other is:
1. GTA:San Andreas
The map your looking at, for a VERY long time was know better by me than a map of my own home town. This game was perfect for me, not only did it indulge my reckless, wild, violent side, it was also one of my first experiences with a “sand-box” game. Having skipped owning GTA:3 and Vice City, this was the first one I had un-restricted access to and it was like giving crack to well… a crackhead. Apparently, according to Xfire I have spent a total of 401hrs or 2.38690476 weeks in game. What’s really scary? I owned this game on PS2 for months before I did on PC. That equates to hundreds of un-counted gameplay hours in addition to the 400+hrs on my PC.
Well I hope that serves to show you. Spending a weekend with a good-game is not a crime and spending a weekend with a great game… It’s not even enough.
